All About Venetian Blinds
In the modern world, window treatments have become a major part of home décor. Although not much attention was paid to dressing up windows in the olden days, and a curtain usually sufficed, nowadays it’s a different story altogether. And along with the popularity of window treatments, came the popularity of Venetian blinds.
Venetian blinds are a type of blind, which is a covering used to cover your windows. These blinds help to block the light coming into your home. Whether from the sun or those pesky neon lights, Venetians will take care of them all. Along with keeping out the light, Venetian blinds also prevent people from getting a closer look into your home.
Venetian-blinds were first seen around the 1790s in Venice, thus the name. Since then, these blinds have found a place in many homes, not just in Venice but across the globe. Venetian blinds consist of various slats, all of which are held together with two rods, one at the top and the other at the bottom; and strings that run through small openings in each slat. These strings are known as the ladders.
Unlike vertical blinds where the slats are placed next to each other in vertical rows, in a Venetian blind the slats are positioned one on top of each other in horizontal rows. By pulling on the blinds cord, you can lower and raise the Venetian blinds depending on whether you want to keep out the light or enjoy the view from your window.
Venetian blinds afford you the opportunity of looking through your window even with the blinds lowered. By keeping the slats in a parallel position, you can look through them as well as allow some light to come inside the room. If you want complete privacy and darkness, you simply need to turn the slats to their flat position and you have what you want.
Metal, vinyl, and wood are the various types of Venetian-blinds available for the homemaker. Thus, with such a varied choice and the convenience that these blinds offer, Venetian blinds can be a great addition to any home.
