Using Mini Blinds On Your Windows

Contrary to what the name might cause you to believe, mini blinds are not small blinds or miniatures of large blinds. Instead, as the slats in miniblinds are made of lesser width than slats on regular blinds, these are known as mini-blinds. The vanes on standard blinds are 1 ½ inches to 2 inches wide. Whereas the slats on mini blinds are less than an inch wide, thus the name.

1. Vinyl mini blinds: if you’re used to life on the fast track and do not have too much time to spare on the upkeep of your home, then vinyl mini-blinds are just the right solution for your windows. These blinds are very tough and can handle daily wear and tear beautifully. Cleaning is also not a problem with vinyl blinds. Just wipe with a damp cloth and you’re ready to go. And best of all, these mini blinds are very affordable too.
   
2. Wood mini blinds: These are made out of real wood such as Ramin, American hardwood, Basswood, Poplar, etc. Because the wood is used in its natural state, the individual grains and patterns in the wood remain intact. This gives the wooden mini blinds a very distinctive look, one that cannot be matched by synthetic materials.
   
3. Faux wood mini blinds: These blinds give you all the benefits and looks of wood blinds, but at a significantly lower price. As natural wood mini blinds can be quite expensive, you may want to look into faux wood mini-blinds that are made of polyvinyl or a wood-vinyl mix. These mini blinds are made with such care that they virtually look like real wood.

In addition to the above, aluminum mini blinds are another kind of blind that can be great for covering your windows. One major advantage with such blinds is that you do not have to constantly tell your children to ‘watch it’!
